The Red Noodle Snake Bean is a distinctive climbing bean species that can reach heights of up to 2 meters. It produces deep red pods that can grow as long as 70 cm. Known for its rapid growth and extended harvesting period, this bean retains its vibrant color even when cooked, making it an excellent addition to fresh salads or mixed vegetable dishes.

Climbing beans like the Red Noodle require a sturdy support structure for optimal growth. Suitable materials for this include tomato stakes, bamboo, or strong sticks—anything capable of supporting the plant as it climbs. It's crucial to plant these beans in soil rich in organic matter but low in nitrogen, as they are legumes. Plant the seeds directly below the support structure to facilitate easy climbing. During germination, avoid over-watering to prevent seed rot, and mulch around the plant once it has sprouted. Throughout the growing season, you may need to help the plant latch onto its support structure. Harvest the beans when they are young and stringless, ideally at lengths of 40-50 cm, to enjoy them fresh or cooked.

Sow the seeds in spring (after the last frost) and early summer, at a depth of 20-40 mm and spaced 15 cm apart. Soak the seeds for a few hours before planting. They typically germinate within 5-10 days at temperatures between 18-28°C, and the plants reach maturity in about 80 days.
